Engineered Hardwood

Engineered hardwood has brought wood flooring to a new level. It combines the authenticity of solid hardwood with the ease of installation of a manufactured product for an end result that both installers and users appreciate.

Unlike solid hardwood, engineered hardwood is a composite product—only the top layer, usually about one-sixteenth to one-eighth of an inch thick is hardwood—the remaining layers are plywood. This composition makes engineered hardwood a good choice for spaces that have exposure to light moisture.

Advantages of Engineered Hardwood:
· It has the same beauty and warmth as solid hardwood but is more structurally sound
· It is more resistant to changes due to moisture and temperature fluctuations

Disadvantages of Engineered Hardwood:
· It is more expensive than solid hardwood and laminate
· Its wear layer is usually thinner than solid hardwood
