peeled or sawn top layer?
All engineered hardwood floors have a finished hardwood top surface. Manufacturers produce the top surface veneer by either sawing the log or by peeling the log.
The look of a sawn veneer differs slightly from that of a rotary peeled veneer as demonstrated in the two pictures below. The grains of a sawn floor appear tighter and give the floor a more desirable, uniform look. Rotary peeled veneers are more spread out, less uniform and tend to be fuzzy in appearance.
