How much an underlay reduces noise is determined by the Impact Isolation Class (IIC) and Sound Transmission Class (STC) it is given.
For example, one of our underlays comes with an ICC rating of 71 and an STC rating of 68 which exceeds most strata council requirements.
IIC refers to noise transferred to the suite below you.
STC refers to noise generated from your suite reflected back into the suite you. (ie. your footsteps)
